The Adventures of Boyhood

Little Mario Man Steals My Heart

I loved every minute that I got to photograph this little guy playing with his action figures!

It was such a reminder that, like it or not, there is something fierce in the heart of every boy/man.

They want to conquer and “to feel they are powerful…or someone to be reckoned with,” according to John Eldredge, Wild at Heart.

They want an adventure!

I remember when every stick or paper towel holder became a sword for my son.

I was sometimes worried that he might be slightly obsessed with fighting. Reading the book mentioned above did me some good.

It made me realize that those little boy antics…the capes, the swords, the light sabers, the ninja warrior kicks…

they are not just boyish antics. “When boys play at war they are rehearsing their part in a much bigger drama.”

“Life needs a man to be fierce–and fiercely devoted.”

So, kudos to this mom who lets her boy be a boy, action figures and all…especially Mario.

Loved taking photographs of your adventurous boy/man :).
