I attended a fantastic workshop last February, sponsored by the well-known wedding photographer, author, and speaker Mera Koh.
(find out more about her at www.merakoh.com).
It was an awesome experience to learn and grow! Her workshop goal is always to help others “Soar” in their photography businesses. I found also, however, that she encourages photographers to learn to look deep within themselves to discover what is unique about their vision that only they can give to the world through the images they create. That was especially encouraging to me, as I personally seek to use my camera as a way to tap into my faith and express my longing to capture the beauty of God.
I must say that I most certainly came away with a feeling of being able to soar above all the technicalities of beginning a photography business. And, the best perk of all…making new fabulous photog friends! Hey, girls!
The following images are examples of what I captured that weekend. Workshops are always intentionally fast and furious, in an effort to stretch your abilities to create good photographs in a variety of real life situations. This workshop was no exception! Hope you like them!
The first subjects posted were the cutest, most full of life, brother and sister.
This is the brother. I think (imho) he looks like HE is “soaring” in this second shot! I love how his shirt says “heart throb.” Looks like mom got that one right. By the way, mom was amazing! Wish I could give her a big shout out and tell her how I admired her energy, flexibility, and obvious adoration for her children!
This is his amazing mom!
Meet precious baby sister. Don’t you just want to squeeze her little cheeks! She was two and on the move!
She was definitely an elusive free spirit! So fun! Above, we were playing “Peek-a-Boo,” and singing Twinkle, Twinkle.
Ahhhh…we did have some still moments. And she just glowed!
I loved the way the shadows and grain of this image captures the wonder of childhood.
Then, I also got to spend a few minutes capturing with this sweet face.
And, for just a moment, I got to capture a quick shot of this little doll.
I wanted this image to show how children sometimes see things we do not.
“Walk as children of light…” Ephesians 5:8
